Meet Marc

Marc Bakerman, a 4th generation Los Angeles born entrepreneur/businessman & youth sports advocate.  Public-school educated, attended Canoga Park High, then San Diego State University where he played baseball while completing his marketing & communications.

In college, Marc pioneered valet parking at shopping malls, founding Center Parking Systems. CPS grew to serve 20 regional shopping malls, 30+ restaurants & art galleries, employing hundreds.

Marc founded The Safety Child ID Program.  Named by Entrepreneur Magazine as the #1 Ranked homebased franchise. Franchise Times Magazine award as the #1 Fastest Growing Young Franchise.  Recognized by Los Angeles Business Journal as the 9th Largest Los Angeles headquartered Franchisor for 3 straight years. Marc founded Shutterbug studio, providing school portraits and yearbooks to thousands of elementary school children in the Los Angeles region.

Marc has lived a life of service: Working with children in under-served communities throughout California to create team sports opportunities, Director of Volunteers for St Jude’s Children Hospital - Medlock Krieger Celebrity Golf & Concert Fundraiser, baseball coach Canoga Park High, coach & commissioner Conejo Bulldogs Hockey Club, Chair & Director Cal Cup International Hockey Tournament, Trustee US Men’s Field Hockey Foundation, Los Angeles Rec & Parks PLAYLA  & LA28 Olympics Task Force member. Marc is the national Boy’s Development Manager for USA Field Hockey.

Marc and his wife Karen married in 1993. They have 3 boys, Max, Jaxon and Zachary.

Created concepts, business plans, products, recruited management team, companies that have grown to be recognized as industry leaders.

Founded the Child I.D. Program in May 2001 in Mission Hills, CA offering Child Safety Programs to schools in Los Angeles marketplace.  Today company is the largest and most successful independent provider of Child I.D. Products, servicing more than 400 schools per year, selling to more than 150,000 customers per year. 

Began franchising The Child I.D. Program business concept in 2002. Currently one of most successful company’s in world in industry.  Recruited & sold to date 178 Franchise Territories in 32 States, Canada and Europe. Recognized by Los Angeles Business Journal as the 9th Largest Los Angeles headquartered Franchisor for 3 straight years.  Recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine & Franchise Times magazine with nearly 20 awards for achievement in 3-year period.  Services were offered to more than 5 million school age children per year through the franchise network.

Founded, devised software and marketing plan for school photography studio in 2005.  Introduced school photo opportunity as a vertical market scheme for existing franchisee network.  Currently photograph more than 100,000 students annually nationally.

#1, most successful business owner in national distribution network.  National advertising campaigns depicting my family were used to bring credibility of business and National recruitment of new business owners into system. 

Developed, positioned and introduced the Ident-A-Kid 2000 workflow & software system.

  • Developed new marketing campaigns, strategies & materials used nationally.
  • Responsible for training new distributors nationally.
  • Driving force behind launching and sustaining nation convention & training events for distributorship network.
  • Voted recipient of “People’s Choice Award” by national distributorship network.

Center Parking Systems                                                                                                                    1984-1988

Owner/Founder

Devised brand new business concept to Valet park autos at shopping malls during the peak Holiday season, transporting mall employees from off-site parking via vans to free up more parking spaces.  Net results were happier shoppers spending more money shopping at the Mall & less time frustrated in the parking lot.

Marketed Valet parking concept to large regional shopping mall management companies, resulting in 20+ Southern California shopping centers offering customers a self-park alternative by 1988.

Developed business plan.

Marketed and sold contracts to 20+ regional malls in Southern California.

Hired up to 200 total part time employees during peak season.

Grew business to include valet parking contracts at 30+ restaurants in Los Angeles & Orange Counties.

Sold business to large Los Angeles based medical transportation company in 1988.
